Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries of election districts to ensure that the people of each district are equally represented. All members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the state legislatures and local offices are elected by people living in those districts.

Redistricting is done in the United States after the completion of Congressional reapportionment, which decides how many seats each state has in the 435 member House of Representatives. The district boundaries are redrawn every 10 years based on the population counts of the United States census.

Current/Proposed Commissioner Districts

The current Becker County Commissioner districts can be viewed on our Commissioner Districts page.

The proposed changes to the County Commissioner's Districts are only affected by the boundary changes the City of Detroit Lakes approved for DL Wards 1, 2, and 3. Commissioner District 2 would still encompass DL Wards 2 and 3, and Commissioner District 4 would still encompass DL Ward 1. See the map below for the DL Ward boundary changes and proposed Commissioner’s District Re-establishment.
