Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries of election districts to ensure that the people of each district are equally represented. All members
of the U.S. House of Representatives, the state legislatures and local offices are elected by people living in those districts.
Redistricting is done in the United States after the completion of Congressional reapportionment, which decides how many seats each state has in the 435 member
House of Representatives. The district boundaries are redrawn every 10 years based on the population counts of the United States census.
Timeline for 2022
The redistricting timeline is to be established at the March 1, 2022 County Board meeting.
Last day to publish the Redistricting Public Hearing notice (3 weeks prior)

Deadline for establishing Districts

Current/Proposed Commissioner Districts
The current Becker County Commissioner districts can be viewed on our Commissioner
The proposed changes to the County Commissioner's Districts are only affected by the boundary changes the City of Detroit Lakes approved for DL Wards 1, 2, and 3.
Commissioner District 2 would still encompass DL Wards 2 and 3, and Commissioner District 4 would still encompass DL Ward 1. See the map below for the DL Ward
