  • Jail Project Funded from County Reserve and Savings from Outside Inmate Boarding - Not Levy Increase

    The County will take possession of the new jail on December 11. The project is on schedule and budget. The jail's construction is being funded from county reserves and a bond issue that will be serviced entirely with the $600,000 yearly savings from not boarding inmates in outside jails. The project qualifies for a sales tax reimbursement from the state of approximately $500,000 and a significant unspent reserve of nearly $300,000, all which will be returned to Becker County at the end of the project.

  • Enhanced Driver's License and Real ID Now Available Through DMV Office

    The Becker County Motor Vehicle Office is now able to issue both Enhanced Driver's Licenses (EDL) and Real ID. The office is able to process those applications ONLY on Tues/Wed/Thurs from 8:30-11:00 AM. For more information see our licensing page.

  • County Sets Maximum Tax Levy at 3.5%

    Becker County Commissioners approved a maximum 2019 Levy Budget of $21,308,052, a 3.5 percent levy increase over 2018. The Board will set the County's final budget following a public hearing in December.

    The County's total proposed budget for 2019 of $52,453,042 is down from $75,146,284 due to the completion of the new $21 million jail project. The proposed budget also reduces county staffing by 2 positions for 2019. The budget contains a 2.5 percent employee salary adjustment for 2018 and 2019. The budget also contains increased funding support for Drug Court, Airport, Sunnyside Nursing Home, Regional Library, Soil and Water District, County Extension, and Jail Operations.

    "Becker County's financial condition remains strong as evidenced by Standard and Poor's AA rating," said County Administrator Jack Ingstad.

  • Deputies Presented with 'Livesaver' Awards

    Deputy Cole Sanders and Deputy Jerron Aschnewitz were presented with 'Lifesaver' awards at the August 21st Commissioner's Meeting. Their actions, along with aid from other citizens, helped rescue 2 people in the water who became seperated from their boat. Read more...  |  Photo...

  • DWI Court Team Attends Operational Tune-Up Training

    On June 28 and 29, 2018, the White Earth Nation/Becker County DWI Specialty Court team attended the National Center for DWI Courts MN Operational Tune-Up Training in Bemidji, MN.  The multidisciplinary team consists of the judge, prosecutors, probation agents, licensed chemical dependency counselors, compliance officer, law enforcement, and specialty court coordinator. The team strives to continually improve the quality of our program and is committed to providing our participants with the tools and support necessary for them to change their behavior, improve their lives and productively reengage in our community.

  • Human Services Unit Receives State Recognition for Timeliness Rate

    Becker County Human Services was informed by the MN Dept of Human Services (DHS) that the Income Maintenance Unit has met the timeliness rate goal of 96% or higher in both SNAP Expedited & 30-Day Processing of application processing for the full year (Jan-Dec 2016), as well as the first three quarters (Jan-Sept 2017) of the current year.  DHS has provided Becker County Human Services with a certificate of congratulations for their efforts. The Becker County Board also expressed their thanks and congratulations at the December 19th board meeting for a job well done. Congratulations, Income Maintenance staff for your hard work!
